Funding

The Ohio River Basin Fish Habitat Partnership (ORBFHP) supports projects that protect, restore, and reconnect aquatic habitats across the Ohio River Basin. Through coordination with the National Fish Habitat Partnership, ORBFHP advances on-the-ground efforts that improve water quality, enhance fish passage, and restore natural river processes.

Priority projects align with ORBFHP’s strategic goals, including:

  • Reconnecting fragmented river and stream habitats
  • Restoring natural flow and floodplain function
  • Reducing sedimentation and nutrient impacts
  • Protecting high-quality aquatic systems

ORBFHP will release its FY2027 Request for Proposals (RFP) in July. Funding will support planning, design, and implementation projects that deliver measurable ecological benefits for fish, mussels, and aquatic systems across the basin. Check back here for the full RFP, application materials, and guidance on how to apply. Email Pierce VanValkenburg at pvanvalkenburg@americanrivers.org with questions.
